Development of cross-border cycle networks

EU and regional co-funding (e.g.,  » Connect2Cycle (C2C)  is being carried out as part of the Interreg Meuse-Rhine (NL-BE-DE) programme and co-financed with € 1.630.323,49 by the European Union and with € 330.812,00 from  BE-Wallonie, with € 168.002,98 from DE-Land NRW and with € 177,407,67 from NL-Provincie Limburg.)

The Meuse-Rhine region (MR) has many beautiful cycle paths, but cross-border cooperation is not always smooth. Differences in language, signage and information sometimes make routes unclear and cycling tourism fragmented. Some places are very busy, others less well known. Connect2Cycle (C2C) wants to change that. C2C brings all initiatives together, makes cross-border cycling easier and ensures a better and more sustainable experience.
The aim is to create a strong and connected cycling network with special themed routes, digital tools and good services for cyclists. There will be at least three new routes, fifteen service points and a joint “widget” with everything cyclists need to know. The project will help at least 50 businesses to offer more to cyclists and ensure that tourism is better spread across the region.
C2C facilitates cooperation between different countries, municipalities and businesses. This makes the entire region more attractive to tourists and residents alike. Local businesses and the hospitality industry benefit from more visitors and new opportunities. Without cooperation and funding, cycle tourism in the MR would remain fragmented.
